I’ve never been so sad to be an asian.
When i read this article, i just wanted to punch college administrators for even caring about ethnicities of applicants. Nowadays, no one should ever care about a race about a person, rather they should focus on the damn merit of the person.
This is so disappointing to know that the discrimination actually exists. Throughout the article, many applicants who are mixed with some sort of asian and white usually checked the box “white.” You can obviously not check any boxes for your ethnicity, but when you’re pure asian, your last name obviously states you’re asian. But for these mixed-race applicants, their last name were white, so they can actually deceive administrators that they were white.
They should just eliminate the “race” portion of college applications and judge a student based on their academic offerings. Yeah, there’s a lot of asians applying for school, and many of them do extremely well compared to other ethnicity, but why ignore an asian-american who has outstanding academic report compared to someone who is not asian and has an average-level academic report? Why is that still acceptable in this nation in this time of day? Beyond, utter disappointment.
